Gerald L. 'Jerry' Combs, 96, of Eugene, formerly of Medford, died Saturday 
(March 17, 2001) in Eugene. A private service
will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford.

He was born Aug. 22, 1904, in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of William and 
Marie (O'Brien) Combs. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma. In 1926, 
in Grove, OK, he married Katie Hampton, who died in 1974.

Mr. Combs was a teacher, coach and administrator from 1925 to 1950. He worked 
in the retail shoe business in Salina, KS, from 1950 until his retirement in 
1965. He lived in Medford from 1965 to 1984.

He was a member of the Methodist Church and the Elks Lodge and was a 
32nd-degree Mason.

Survivors include two sons, Bill and Jack, both Eugene; four grandchildren; 
and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Don 
and Frank Edward.
