Services will be this morning at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Scott Spencer officiating. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church in Guymon with the Rev. Mike Chaffin, pastor, and the Rev. Shannon Davis, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery at Guymon by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors of Guymon. Arrangements in Altus are by Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Mr. Craig was born in New Orleans. His family made their home in Guymon for many years. He graduated from Guymon High School in 1971. He also graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Okla. He married Dana Rook in 1975 at Altus. He had lived in Altus for the past 22 years. He had been the Altus High School band director for many years. He was a member of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Kappa Kappa Si, the Oklahoma Music Education Association and Phi Beta Mu band fraternity. He had served as president of the Southwestern Oklahoma Band Directors Association and was honored with the the 1978 Band Director of the Year award. He participated in the Music Educators National Conference and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Altus. Survivors include his wife; two children, Becky Craig and David Craig, both of Altus; his parents, Sam and Jeanne Craig of Guymon; and a sister, Karen Knudsen of Oklahoma City. Friends may visit the funeral home from noon to 8 p.m. Thursday. A Sam Craig Memorial has been established for the Instrumental Music Memorial Scholarship at Southwestern Oklahoma State University or the Altus High School Band Department. Memorials will be accepted at Henson-Novak Funeral Home, P.O.
