Cross. Went to be with her family November 25, 2002. Born to Myrtle Dixie Basham and Napoleon Columbus Basham November 5, 1912 in Clinton, Oklahoma. Moved to Elk City Oklahoma where she grew up under the influence of the Methodist Church, Elk City, Oklahoma. Junior and Senior High School under Walter P. March and E.E. Cowan Superintendent, Joel Shelton, Principal. Verna studied Dramatics under Ita Royse, piano music under late Joy Taylor. Verna was a Member of the Elk City Ginger Snaps Club, Sponsor May Robinson and support late John I. Taylor during her life in Elk City, Oklahoma. Verna attended Oklahoma State University, Stillwater Oklahoma, served during WWII at Tinker Air Base in airplane riveting and manufacture. Verna was Secretary To Dean of Women at Oklahoma City University and after being at Oklahoma City University worked as a legal secretary. Verna was a positive thinker. She often said: "I"m not a slow learner." Gratitude is expressed to the Staff of Spanish Cove Pavilion Nursing Center, 11 Palm Yukon, Oklahoma 73099 for the loving care shown. Warner Basham, her nephew DeWayne Warner Basham and his son DeWayne Warner Basham II. Verna's final resting place is in Rose Hill Burial Park, 6001 Grand Blvd., in Oklahoma City, OK.
