A graveside service was conducted at Cheyenne by Rev. W.L. Magar, pastor of the Baptist church, Hammon, and Rev. Andrew Borum, Baptist pastor at Durham. Rev. Curtis, a retired Baptist minister, passed away in an Oklahoma City hospital following a heart attack. He was converted at an early age, and joined the Baptist church. He was married to Nancy Annabelle Baker, January 1, 1893, at Sedman, Missouri. To this union were born five sons and two daughters. A daughter, Alice, died in 1915, and a son, Glen, died in 1939. His wife preceded him in death, August 9, 1950. Survivors include four sons, Ray, of Hammon, Oklahoma, the Rev. C.D., of Abilene, Texas, James P., of Port Angeles, Washington, and Roy, of Victoria, Texas, and a daughter, Mrs. A.M. Easterwood, of thed home, fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He came to Oklahoma in 1900 and homesteaded at Roll in Roger Mills County. He later moved to Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and worked in the County Clerk's office there for several years. He entered the Baptist ministry in 1915, and took up his first pastorate at Red Moon community in Roger Mills County. He later held pastorates at various churches in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas, includcing Liberal, Kansas, Rio Hondo, Texas, and Hammon, Manitou, Frederick and Ray, Oklahoma. He retired from his last pastorate at Johnson City, Texas, in 1940 due to ill health, and moved to Oklahoma City. However, he continued to be active in the Baptist church, teaching various Sunday School classes and preaching in various churches.
