"Bill" William H. "Bill" Carter Jr., 76, passed from this life Friday, July 21, 2006, peacefully at his home in Keller. Funeral: 1 p.m. Monday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Burial: Shannon Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials: If desired, memorials may be made to World Vision at www.worldvision.org/FeedAfricanChildren, in Bill's memory. Born April 14, 1930, in Oklahoma City, Okla., Bill's family moved to Fort Worth when he was in his teens. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War and a firefighter with the Fort Worth Fire Department from which he retired as a district chief after more than 30 years of service. He was an avid golfer, self-taught guitar player, horseman, animal lover and devoted family man. Bill's family offers its grateful appreciation to his many dear friends for the kindness, joy and companionship given to him during his life. He loved you all. He was preceded in death by his parents, M. Elizabeth and William H. Carter Sr.; sisters, Elizabeth Carter, Barbara Carter and Kathryn Roberts; brother, Dale Carter. Survivors: Children, Susan Anderson and husband, Jeff and Shari Shivers and husband, Rick; grandchildren, Austin Anderson, Sara, Emily and Abby Shivers; his siblings, Carol Thomas, Shirley Manley, Delores Cain, Steven Carter, Michael Carter and Charles Parsons.
