Carver, Jr. of Sun City, Arizona, born in Edmond, Oklahoma on September 10, 1921, died of Parkinsonıs Disease on Sunday, March 13, 2007. He was a loving husband, father, golfer, Oklahoma Sooners and Dallas Cowboys fan and geologist. He graduated from Holdenville, Oklahoma High School in 1939. His college days at Oklahoma University were interrupted by World War II. Her served as a naval aviator for the Marine Corps, flying dive bombers (DB-4/5) and Corsairs (F-4Us) throughout the Pacific. After the war he returned to Oklahoma University where he was the first to earn a Geological Engineering degree. He worked as a geologist from 1947 to 1982 for Standard Oil of Texas, Colorado Interstate Gas and Oil, and Jake L. Hamon Independent, in small towns in West Texas and later in Amarillo, Oklahoma City and Dallas. In 1982, he became an independent geologist with Carver Oil Company of Dallas until retirement in 1987 when he moved to Sun City, Arizona to care for his parents. He was an avid golfer at Union Hills Country Club of Sun City, Arizona; Aspen Valley Country Club of Flagstaff, Arizona; and Brookhollow Country Club of Dallas, Texas. Hershel is survived by his wife, Bee Homes Carver of Sun City, Arizona; four children: Craig Carver (Jacque) of Dumfries, Virginia; Candise Carver of Dallas, Texas; Brad Carver of Dallas, Texas; and Gayla Cody (Mark) of Richmond, Virginia; four grandchildren: Kelly Carver, Tracy Carver, Matthew Cody and Christin Carver; two stepchildren, Rick Homes of Phoenix, Arizona and Jeff Homes of Tucson, Arizona; and four step grandchildren: David Homes of Tucson, Arizona; Dr. Kristen Saak of Charlotte, North Carolina; Jeff Mike Homes and Christy Homes, both attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona. Services will be conducted at All Saints of the Desert Episcopal Church in Sun City, Arizona at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, March 17, 2007.
