Lloyd H., 73, of Midwest City, left this life Tuesday, 2-11-03. Our husband, father, brother, uncle, friend, & "Poppy" was an accomplished man in many respects. He was the 9th of 10 kids. His family grew up on the plains of West Texas, sharecropping their way from homestead to homestead. He graduated from Whiteface High School & attended college in Ranger, Texas. He was an outstanding athlete throughout his life. He entered the USAF where he served 23 years before retiring as a MSGT. During this time he was stationed at AF bases in TX, Korea, LA, Japan, Vietnam, & OK. Our dad served in both the Korean & Vietnam Wars. After retiring from the USAF he was a car salesman in the metro area for many years. He & Betty Jo married in 1951 in Dumas, TX. They were the parents of 4 children, Vicki Jo & her husband Earl Wayne Chaffin, Beverly Lynn & former husband David Besse, DeAnne & former husband Mike Evans, & one son Richard Glenn Davis. Our daddy loved children, Texas, football, horses, sun & moonflowers, cold beer, country music, dancing, computers, his kids" friends, dogs, and tall stories. He was a loving, compassionate, & interesting man who lived a full, happy life. We knew every day of our life that we were loved. People loved being around him & looked forward to our family gatherings. Daddy was a lifelong Christian & member of The Church of Christ. Other surviving members of the family are his grandchildren Calem Besse & wife Heather, & Madison Evans; great grandson Calem Besse Jr.; also his sisters, Eileen Tabor & husband James, Norma Sweeten & husband Robby; brothers Eugene & wife Maggie, & J.V. Davis; sisters-in-law Mary Davis, Ophie Davis, & Beverly Rentfro & husband Jerry; brother-in-law Bill Noel. He also had many beloved nieces & nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations would be welcome at the OK Foundation for the Disabled, 8421 N. Walker, OKC, 73114. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be Sat., 2-15-03, at 1:00, First Christian Church of Midwest City, Reno and Anderson Rd.
