"Jack", of Oklahoma City, died Thursday, August 08, 2002. Born to John F., Sr., and Mary Lillian (Byrd) Daugherty Jan 8, 1915 on the family farm in Iona, OK. He was the youngest and last of 10 children. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and Gene Mayo; and granddaughters Cynthia and Melissa. He will be laid to rest next to Doris, his best friend and loving wife for 56 years. Doris predeceased Jack in September of 2000. Jack and Doris were members of the United Methodist Church of Lindsay. They loved gardening and raising cattle together as they shared a deep appreciation for the land. Jack retired from the U.S Air Force in 1963, after serving in France during WW II and serving for a total of 27 years. Air Force life was a wonderful adventure for Jack and his family, taking them to many assignments and lifelong friends. The family extends sincere appreciation to Grace Living Center and Good Shepherd Hospice for the wonderful care shown both to Jack and Doris in their final days. Donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Lindsay, 114 W. Chickasaw, Lindsay, OK, 73052; or, to Good Shepherd Hospice, 4411 Highline Blvd., Oklahoma City, OK, 73108, in Jack and Doris's memory. Family will receive friends 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday afternoon, Aug. 9, 2002 at Vondel L. Smith/ South.
