All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.html ========================================================================== Dennehy, Bernard Leo "Pap" Bernard Leo 'Pap' Dennehy, born September 23, 1923 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Retired full colonel from the United States Air Force in 1974. Graduated from Classen High School 1941. Attended Oklahoma A & M College (OSU). Bernie flew a P-51 Mustang with the 361st fighter group, Europe 1944-45. He also was a proud member and a pilot for the Air National Guard. Bernie and his father, Dee Dennehy, operated Dennehy Construction from 1946 to 1962. He was employed as a salesman and pilot for W & W Steel and Harter Construction. He had also been employed by Hudgins, Thompson & Ball Architects. Bernie was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Betty Lou Swan Dennehy. Bernie is survived by his sister, June Dennehy Eischen of St. Louis, MO, his children Dr. Dan Dennehy of Tulsa, Doreen Dennehy of Oklahoma City, and Ann Marie Dennehy Labay & her husband Gerhard Labay of Edmond. His grandchildren, Erika, Meagan, D.J. and Luke Labay and Joe Dennehy, 3 nieces, 3 great-nieces and 1 great-nephew. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Sophie & Buster. Bernie was a great friend to many people and will be missed dearly by all. We love you Pap, we salute you, and we will see you again. Memorial contributions in Pap's name may be made to the Oklahoma League for the Blind, 501 N. Douglas Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73106. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8005 Dorset Drive, Oklahoma City with burial at Resurrection Cemetery, 7801 N.W.
