All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Memorial Park Cemetery--OKC OK Dunn, Parker Southerland Parker Southerland, passed away February 27, 2003 in Oklahoma City. Born in Portsmouth, OH August 25, 1910, he graduated in 1930 with a BSChE from Ohio State University and a MS in Chemical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1931. Following two years of employment by Mead Corp. in pulp and paper manufacture, he was employed by Columbia Southern Chemical division of Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co in Southern Alkali Corp. at its new plant in Corpus Christi, TX in 1934. There he met and married Mayde Smith, an attorney. In 1941, they moved to Carlsbad, NM where Parker worked for Potash Co of America as resident manager. In 1951, they moved to Trona, CA. He became president of AP&CC at its headquarters in Los Angles in 1963, and Board Chairman in 1968 when AP&CC merged into Kerr-McGee Corp. He served as vice president of Kerr-McGee Chemical, and Vice President of Kerr-McGee Nuclear Corp., continuing to consult on chemical operations until 1988. In 1966, Ohio State University awarded him the Benjamin Garver Lamme medal for meritorious achievement in engineering. He was a 72 year member of the AIChE and a 66 year member of the AIMME. Parker was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Mayde Dunn. His survivors include sister Elizabeth D. Schiller of Boca Raton, FL, sons Joseph and wife Patricia of Lakewood, CO, Dwight of Soquel, CA, grandchildren James Joseph and wife Tesa, and Teresa Ann; great grandchildren Brittany, Timothy, and Benius; nephew Ronald Schiller and wife Carol of Dunwoody, GA; and great nieces and nephew Heidi, Holly and Bret. Memorial gifts may be made to The Anglican Church of the Holy Cross in OKC or Coffee Creek Riding Center for the Handicapped Edmond, OK. The Rite of Christian Burial and Requiem will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 4, 2003 at the Anglican Church of the Holy Cross, 10509 N. Council Rd.
