He was the fifth child of a family of six. He passed from this life on May 15, 2006 at his home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Allen lived in Diamond Front and Santa Cruz, California. Allen attended Red Star and Diamond Front Country schools; he served his country in the United States Navy. Allen and Beatrice Cates just lacked a few days being married 67 years. They were united in marriage on May 21, 1939 in Santa Cruz. One daughter blessed this union, Betty Sue. The family lived in Santa Cruz, California, Hammon, Oklahoma, Leedey, Oklahoma, Fort Worth, Texas, and then Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Allen worked many years as a butcher. He started at the family store in Leedey, Oklahoma with his brother-in-law Joe Cates and later for the United States Government. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, weather hunting, fishing, gardening, or growing the biggest peach tree in his back yard. He also enjoyed watching sports on the television. Allen was baptized when he was 24 at the Leedey Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. His church family was very important. He loved to be involved in all functions and loved having families over for dinner on Sundays. He served as a Sunday School director for many years and was a deacon in the church for over 50 years. Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Leona Dean, a grandson, Clarence Linthicum, two brothers, Cecil and Wayne Dean and two sisters, Lorette Tucker and Lola Oneto. He is survived by his wife Bea of the home in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a daughter, Betty Murphy of Oklahoma City; a grandson Richard Allen Linthicum of Oklahoma City; a sister Winnie Switzer of Elk City; a brother-in-law, Joe Cates of Leedey; other family and a host of friends. Services were held Saturday, May 20, 2006 at First Baptist Church of Leedey. Services were arranged and conducted by Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey.
