All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::NOT LISTED Doering, Mavis Vercine Langley Mavis Vercine Langley Doering was born on August 31, 1929 in Hominy, OK and departed this earth on August 9, 2007 in Phoenix, AZ. Her parents were Francis Earl (Frank) Langley and Anna Christie Langley. She grew up in Oklahoma and California, graduating from Westwood High School in 1946. In 1954 she married Victor James Doering who deaprted this life in 1996. They lived in Los Angeles, Sacramento, and Oklahoma City. In 1998 she moved to Phoenix. She is survived by her son, Scott Doering and his wife Cherie Townsend of Phoenix and numerous friends and relatives. Mavis was proud to be a member of the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma and was a well known basketmaker. She participated in 13 Santa Fe Indian Markets. Among her many awards and honors were receiving the Oklahoma Governor's Arts Award in 1984 and being named the Honored One at the 1997 Red Earth Festival in Oklahoma City. After moving to Arizona she was a participant in the First Celebration of Basketry in Tucson. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 12, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. with visitation starting at starting at 1P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, 1212 E. Glendale Avenue, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Arizona Humane Society, 1521 W. Dobbins Road, Phoenix, AZ 85041. Arrangements by A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W.
