All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Bakersfield Californian Fannie Vernice Ellison Services: Today, Feb. 20, 11a.m. Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. at Truelight Missionary Baptist Church, 1104 14th Street, Wasco, California. Pastor Marvin E. Cockrell is officiating with interment to follow at Wasco Cemetery, Wasco, California. Fannie was born to John and Bessie Hardimon on July 19, 1908, in Luther, Oklahoma. She joined the church at a young age and stayed with the church until her death. When she was a young woman she moved to Wewoka, Oklahoma where she met and married the late J.B. Ellison. To this union five children were born. In 1953 the family moved to Wasco, California where she united with Truelight Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. P.A. Bedford where she remained a faithful member until her health started to fail in 2001. She served in the kitchens, Senior Choir, Senior Mission and was a Sunday School teacher. Fannie Vernice Ellison leaves to celebrate her homegoing, one sister, Bessie Turner of Wasco, CA; three sons, John Ellison, Dean Ellison and Donald Ellison all of Wasco, California; two daughters, Aljewel and husband Melvin Rogers of Wasco, CA and Etolia Mae Gardner of Los Angeles, CA; two grandsons that she raised, Stanley Dickerson and Johnnie Lee Harrison of Wasco, CA; 20 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, her church family and friends.
