Her granddaughter Kelly Ann Meacham and daughter Martha Lee Meacham were with her, as well as Rafael Lorenzo, friend of Kelly Ann's and her pastor Father Joseph Jacobi. Mary Lee was born December 10, 1917 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late John C. (Jack) and Mary Ruth (Monnie) Geary. Mary Lee attended school in Kansas City, graduating from Westport High School in 1934. She also attended Kansas City University before moving when her parents were transferred to Oklahoma City. They were members of Our Lady's Parrish and Mary Lee was active in the Coronado Club and was the last Queen of the club's Mardi- Gras before the war in 1941. Mary Lee and Marshall J. Ellet were married in May 1942 shortly after Marshall received his Commission in the Army Air Corps. Mary Lee participated in Marshall's career as a military officer, making a warm and welcoming home for their family at various locations in the US, including Hawaii, as well as North Africa and Japan. At each and every location Mary Lee was actively involved in the Officer's Wives Club, was an avid bridge player, as well as participating in and supporting school activities for the couple's two children, Geary Francis and Martha Lee. Mary Lee's activities with the children ranged from room mother to Scout leader (both Boy Scout and Girl Scout) to chauffeuring untold numbers of children untold miles for anything deemed 'necessary'. Her support and interest in her children and grandchildren's careers and activities continued throughout. She was a wife and mother and ultimately grandmother 24/7/365 until August 7, 2005. Mary Lee and Marshall retired to Oklahoma City in 1973 where they joined St. Eugene's Parrish. Mary Lee volunteered at St. Eugene's, served as a Eucharistic Minister to the sick, and was in St. Mary's Guild of the Altar Society. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Activities Club, serving as President of the General Club, Secretary, 1st Vice President and Parliamentarian on the Board of Managers. In 1989 she was the Catholic Women's Activities Club Woman of Achievement. Mary Lee was a member of Hospitality, and PEO Chapter DD. She served in a variety of offices for both. She enjoyed life in general, and was an insatiable learner. Her interests were wide ranging, and she took great delight in stimulating conversation on any topic. Mary Lee passed on her love of reading, music and intelligent discourse to her children and grandchildren. Mary Lee was preceded in death by both her beloved husband, Marshall in 2003 and beloved son Geary in 1997. She is also survived by her brother John Byrne Geary and wife Emily of Waco, Texas, and a niece and nephew and their families. Granddaughter, Kelly Ann Meacham has been Mary Lee's companion and care giver since Marshall's death in 2003.
