Memorial Services for Vera G. Enz are set for 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 24th, 2003 at First Christian Church of Edmond with private family interment. Vera was born October 24th, 1914, in Roswell, NM to Jacob Hamilton Gregg and Mary Loucretia Nations Gregg. She died on January 22nd, 2003. Vera married Harold E. Enz in 1935. She graduated from Phillips University in 1936 with a double major in Christian Education and Music. She and Harold served churches in Oklahoma and Kansas. She also supported Harold in his role as Administrator of the Oklahoma Christian Home. Vera was an accomplished musician. She was a lifelong church musician and served many years as the organist at First Christian Church, Edmond, Vera taught music at Orvis Risner Elementary School and countless private piano and organ students. She was a charter member of the Association of Disciples Musicians and the pianist for the Edmond Kiwanis Club. Vera was a tireless church volunteer through Sunday school activities, Bible Studies, devotionals and women's groups. She was active in the Cottagers group at the Oklahoma Christian Retirement Center where she lived. Vera was predeceased by her husband Harold, two children, Philip I. Enz and Deborah L. Enz, and five brothers and sisters. She is survived by children Ralph E. Enz of Edmond, Tricia E. Port of Oklahoma City and her husband James, and Anita E. Wertz of Prairie Village, KS and her husband Tom. Grandchildren are Lynette Liberge, Stephen Enz, Anita Harrison, Heather Heminger, Heidi A. Port, Gregg Wertz, and Bryan Wertz. She was also survived by seven great grandchildren. Anyone who knew Vera was touched by her commitment to Christ's work through the church, her engaging sense of humor, and her penchant for hospitality. Vera lived the heart of Mary and the hands of Martha. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Oklahoma Christian Retirement Center, First Christian church, Edmond, or the Association of Disciples Musicians.
