She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence (Larry) Elwood Evett: by her Mother and Father by her two brothers: Dennis Ford and Oscar Ford; and by five sisters: Georgia Brothers, Leon Ford, Lula Ford, Laone Bartlett, and May Zelle Brothers. She is survived by her two sons: Steve Evett and Bruce Evett, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Leila completed High Schooil in Hammon, Oklahoma, and attended Southwestern State Teacher's College at Weatherford, Oklahoma. During the Great Depression, the family did all they could to help each other - those with jobs sent money home - the older sisters helped the younger sisters with college expenses. The loving family was always close and fully supportive. After a Federal Civil Service career Leila looked after an aunt and uncle and with a sister's help cared for their Mother. Her sister Lena was a big help with the care of Leila's sons. Leila married Larry in March 1941; they had two sons: Steve, born November 13, 1945, and Bruce, born June 17, 1947. Her family and friends thankfully remember Leila for her genealogy and related historical research. She will be sorely missed by those whose lives were touched and enriched by personal relationships. A burial and memorial service is planned at Kiowa Cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma 10:00 a.m. July 9, 2005.
