Franklin passed away August 3, 2002 in her home. Born Nov. 15, 1920 in Little Rock, AR. She Graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1939 in little Rock, AR. In 1942, She graduated from St. Edwards School of Nursing located in Ft. Smith, AR. She met and married William Gene Franklin in Ft. Smith in 1945. Soon after, they moved to Oklahoma City and made it their life long home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene; her sister, Louise Carney; and brother Charles Doengi. She is survived by her children, Keith Franklin and wife, Pat; Joe Franklin and wife, Connie; Mike Franklin and wife, Jeanie; Gerald Franklin and wife, Teresa; and Julie Franklin. Her grandchildren, Stacey King and husband, David; Chris Franklin and wife, Melissa; Steven Franklin, Blake Franklin, Sarah Franklin, Will Franklin, and Katharine Franklin and numerous nieces and nephews. After pursuing her nursing career for four years, she devoted herself to her husband and children. Martha approached life courageously and lived by her life motto: 'The will to do - The soul to dare'. She found great joy taking care of her family and those around her. She modeled to her children her traditional values toward family and friends. She gave her heart and energies to raising her five children and always took time for each of their needs. Martha was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her gift with others and spending time in her garden of flowers. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and friend and will be greatly missed by all those who loved her. Services will be held Tues. 10:00 a.m., August 6, 2002, at Guardian West Funeral Home. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. GUARDIAN WEST 41 & N.
