All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Resthaven Memory Gardens--OKC OK Finch, Curtis Stacy Curtis Stacy Finch, 84, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Checotah, Brush Hill Area, died Tuesday, October 8, 2002 at Oklahoma City. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Midday Friday at the Barnes-Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Gastin officiating. Music will be provided by Holly Dunn, Gary Don Gregg, Sr. and Lonestarr. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the love and care of Gregg Funeral Home of Eufaula and Barnes-Johnson Funeral Home of Oklahoma City. He was born Saturday, July 20, 1918 at Noble, Oklahoma to John Martin Finch and Verda Hazel (Eastep) Finch. He graduated from Dibble High School, and had worked for Black, Syvalls, and Bryson, a manufacturing company, and then left to serve his country. He served two terms in the U.S. Army, one during WWII and one during peace time. After his discharge from service, he returned to work for the Black, Syvalls and Bryson Company where he worked for 32 years. In Oklahoma City, he and his wife, Robbye, were members of the Southern Hills United Methodist Church. He and Robbye moved to Checotah, Brush Hill Area, where he and his wife worked for the Fountainhead State Park. After 16 years, they retired for the second time. They were very active members of The Checotah United Methodist Church. Curtis was a 32nd Degree Mason and a life time Member of Myrtle Lodge 145, a member of the Oklahoma Eastern Star Harmony Chapter 371 for over 50 years, dual member of the Checotah Masonic Lodge 86 and the Order of Oklahoma Eastern Star Chapter 25. He was also very active in the Eufaula Eastern Star Chapter 161 where his sister, Marie (Gregg) Merritt and his nephew and wife, Gary Don Gregg, Sr and Mary Gregg are active members. Curtis was Past Worthy Patron in Oklahoma City, and Worshipful Master in Oklahoma City and Checotah. He was a member of the Amaranth in Checotah for over 20 years. He was also a member of The Checotah VFW Post 20. He also devoted his time working for the United Methodist Church Mission in Checotah, along side his wife, Robbye, for over 15 years. Both were very, very active in the Masons, Eastern Stars, Amaranth and the Church Mission and will be missed by all. He married Robbye Jewel June 1939 at Lexington, Oklahoma. His survivors include his three children and their spouses, LaJune and Leon Sutherland of Cashion, OK, Larry Curtis and Lynda Finch of Oklahoma City, Brenda Gay and John Williams of Yukon, OK; two brothers and sisters-in law, Alvis and Wanda Finch, of Oklahoma City, Kenneth and Jeanie Finch of Norman; two sisters and brothers-in law, Marie and Gene Merritt, Evelyn and Charlie Turner, all of Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Robbye, who died September 1999; his parents, infant daughter, Jo Ann, and a brother, Ernest Finch. Pallbearers are Eric Sutherland, Daniel Finch, Gary Frost, Donald Schmidt, Gary Gregg, and Kevin Frost. Honorary bearers are Alvis Finch, Leon Sutherland, John Williams, Charlie Turner and Kenneth Finch.
