He was born in Oklahoma City and was an aviation engineer for Rohr Industries. He served in the Army. Survivors include his wife, Connie Franklin; daughter, Deborah Franklin-Walker of San Diego; sons, Vernon Franklin Jr. of San Diego and Anthony Franklin of Murrieta; 12 grandchildren; and one great- grandchild. Services: 2 p.m. today, Greenwood Garden Chapel, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park.
