All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ===================================================================== ::Channing Cemetery--Channing OK Colby Jay Goodwin DUMAS - Colby Jay Goodwin, 32, of Lovington, N.M., died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999 in Oklahoma City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Channing School Gymnasium in Channing with the Rev. Ty Bean, pastor of Cowboy Junction in Lovington, and the Rev. Trey Johnson, pastor of Cowboy Church in Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery in Channing by Morrison Funeral Directors in Dumas. Mr. Goodwin was born in Pocatello, Idaho. In 1987, he graduated from Grand Junction, Colo., High School where he was active in basketball and rodeo activities. He attended Pratt Kansas College and West Texas State University. He received his associate's degree from Lamar Junior College. Prior to moving to Lovington a year ago, Mr. Goodwin had lived in Canyon for eight years. In 1991, he joined the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. He was a rodeo cowboy and was affiliated with the Cowboy Junction Church in Lovington. Going into the Steer Roping National Finals last weekend, he was ranked eighth in the Crown Royal World Standings. He married Amy Hill in 1998 at Canyon. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gunner James Goodwin of the home; and his parents, Joan Warren of Whitesboro and Myrl Goodwin of Canyon. The family will be at the home of Jim and Kathleen Hill in Channing. The family suggest memorials be to Colby Goodwin Memorial c/o any Bank of America; or SSRA Educational Fund for Gunner Goodwin, Box 951, Cushing, OK 74023.
