He was born June 29, 1941 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to parents Louie & Josefina (Zavala) Gomez. Rey had been employed by Wilson Foods for 27 years. He was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Ray enjoyed sky diving, bowling, and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend and he will be missed by all who loved him. He is preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Everett & Sam; and one grandchild, Shae Charles Gomez. He is survived by: his loving wife, Rebecca; sons: Charles Gomez & wife Carol and Christopher Gomez & his wife Jan; daughters: Mary Helen McKinney and Sheri Williams & her husband Bobby; brothers: Louis Gomez & wife Blanca and Joe Gomez & his wife Nancy; sisters: Ophelia Gomez, Hope Watson & husband Dorsey, Anna-Marie Ellis. Rey is also survived by Becky's sisters: V.J. Leonard & husband Esten, Edna Wood, Jonnie Bivins, and Patty Edge & husband David; 11 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Wake Service will be held 7:00 PM Monday at St. Ann's Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Church. Vondel L. Smith Mortuary/South.
