Gregory, Doris Marie (Scott) Doris Marie (Scott) Gregory, 82, of Arkansas City, died Thursday (March 27, 2003) at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday (March 31, 2003) at the First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery. The Reverend Lance Carrithers will officiate. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Sunday evening 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Doris was born October 4, 1920 in Leedy, Oklahoma to Don and Fern (Cook) Scott. She was reared and educated in Chandler, Oklahoma and later Edmond, Oklahoma where she graduated from Edmond High School in 1938. Doris continued her education at Central State College (UCO) and later worked several years as a secretary for the city of Oklahoma City. Later in life she was a graduate of Cowley County Community College in Arkansas City and then received her bachelors degree in elementary education from Southwestern University in Winfield. Doris married Dee L. Gregory on December 6, 1941 in Oklahoma City. The couple moved to the Chilocco Indian School in 1947, where Dee served as the principal. Doris was a homemaker and devoted mother to their three daughters. She was longtime member of the First United Methodist Church and the Stepping Stone Circle, the UMW, and served as church librarian for over 20 years. Along with her husband, Doris was a member of N.A.R.F.E. Survivors include two daughters Linda Larson and Cynthia Gregory both of Arkansas City; a half- brother Jamie Don Scott of Ringling, Oklahoma; five grandchildren Jan Small of Plano, Texas, Gregory Randolph of Olathe, Kansas, Jill Alvarez of San Diego, California, Shane Larson of Keller, Texas and Shawna Hernandez of Arkansas City; and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dee in 1999, one daughter Janice Dee Lowell, one brother and two sisters. Memorials have been established with the First United Methodist Church or Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
