Rea Grimes entered her eternal life December 1, 2003 at the age of 95. Vera Grimes was born in McLoud, Oklahoma and graduated from McLoud High School. She worked for the City of Oklahoma City as Manager of the Utility Billing Collection Point and at the Lynch-Speegle sporting goods store in Capitol Hill. Vera and her husband Glen E. Rea, who preceded her in death, moved to Capitol Hill from Wellston, Oklahoma. They had one daughter, Jane Rea Johnson of Oklahoma City, who passed away in 1994. Mrs. Grimes' granddaughter, Stephanie Johnson Leenders also preceded her in death. Vera and Oma Grimes were married in 1957 and until his death in 1976 their life together was dedicated to family, church, and friends. They were members of Capitol Hill Baptist Church where she taught for many years in the pre-school and primary school classes of Sunday school. Vera Grimes' stepsons Warren, Gerald, and Gene Grimes, and her stepdaughter Joy Vice, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Frances Hudson, her stepdaughter Alene Black, and grandchildren Perry Black III, Gerry Grimes, Jack Grimes, Richard Grimes, Dr. James H. Johnson, PhD, Dee Ann Manning, Kathy Ogg, Jane Ellen Roop, Janet Stage, Nancy Still, Ron Vice, Tim Vice, and Donna Windel. She is also survived by 31 great- grandchildren, 14 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance and celebration will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5 at the Resthaven Funeral Home for family and friends. Committal will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery.
