Goebel, 77 of Oklahoma City died peacefully at home Friday evening with his family at his side. He was born in Lehr, N.D., Jan 18, 1929 and grew up in Marsing, Idaho. He attended Boise State and Colorado State on athletic scholarships, lettering in multiple sports. While at Boise State, Harry played End for the 1947- 48 undefeated football team. In March 1951, he married his childhood sweetheart Kay Larsen and they were married for nearly 56 years at the time of his passing. He is survived by his wife Kay of the home; the fruits of their union, their five children: Kathi Goebel of Oklahoma City, Kristi Oliver and her deceased husband Mac of Oklahoma City, Dee Goebel and wife Diane of Midland, Texas, Karen Keith and husband Jimmy of Edmond, Okla. and Bart Goebel and wife Tracy of Edmond, Okla.; and three grandchildren: Jake Keith, Grant Goebel, and Lexy Goebel. He is also survived by his two sisters: Esther Reich of Marsing, Idaho and Alice Price and husband Mel of Burns Lake, BC, a niece Pam Herman of Marsing, Idaho, a brother-in-law, John Larsen of Givens Springs, Idaho as well as numerous other family members and friends Harry spent his career as a geophysicist in the Oil and Gas industry after receiving a BS degree from Colorado State University. He served as president of the Oklahoma Geophysical Society from 1973- 1975. and became an honorary member in 1991. Harry enjoyed golf, snow skiing, hunting and fishing as well as other activities, but most of all he enjoyed his role as husband, father, grandfather, mentor and friend to all he met. The family would like to thank all of Harry´s caregivers, especially Dr. William Collazo, Janet Fundaro, Crossroads Hospice and their staff for the wonderful care they provided to Harry and his family. Harry was a kind and gentle man; a truly good person. If all the world could have a companion or be raise by a man like Harry, it would be a kinder, more caring and compassionate worldÉhe taught us well. Services were held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3 at Nichols Hills United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requested that donations be made to Calm Waters Center for Children and Families or to the charity of your choice.
