Guilford FREDERICK - Funeral for Roger C. Guilford, 52, Frederick, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charlie Graves officiating. Mr. Guilford died Sunday, July 27, 2003, in Chickasha. Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery under direction of Jackson Funeral Home. He was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Oct. 7, 1950, to Bill and Ginny Davis Guilford. The family moved to New York in 1960, and he attended school in Great Neck, Long Island. They later moved to Oklahoma City, where he graduated from Putnam City High School in 1968. He graduated from the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts (University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma) at Chickasha in April 1972. He married Julie Gay Watson on Dec. 27, 1969. They moved to Colorado Springs and then to Frederick in November 1972. He was produce manager of United Groceries in Frederick while attaining his teaching certificate at Cameron University. After graduation, he taught various subjects at Frederick Public Schools. He was golf coach for the middle school for nine years. He retired in 2002 after 28 years of teaching. He served on the administrative board of First United Methodist Church and was co-Sunday school superintendent for 17 years. He and his wife worked at USAO as student life counselors. Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Nathan Guilford, Norman; a daughter, Delaney Guilford, Chickasha; a sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Jim Bourg, Plano, Texas; his father, William Guilford, Oklahoma City; two aunts: Margaret O'Connor, Arkansas; and Fran Haag, California; an uncle, Robert Davis and his wife, Joanne, Florida; a sister-in-law: Melissa Hullender and her husband David; three brothers-in-law: Wade Watson, Newt Watson and wife Shelley, all of Mineola, Texas and Bob Maxwell, Medicine Park; and 16 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother. Memorial contributions may be made to the University of Science and Art of Oklahoma Alumni Association Scholarship fund.
