Mrs. Huff was a former resident of this city, having resided here with her family during the early days. During the past few years she has made her home with her children. At the time of her death she was residing with her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Hensley of Nicoma Park, near Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at tfhe Baptist church in Cheyenne after which interment will be made beside loved ones in the Cheyenne cemetery. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK 17-Oct-1935 ========= PIONEER CHEYENNE WOMAN BURIED HERE FRIDAY Mrs. Kate Huff, pioneer of Cheyenne, was laid to rest in the local cemetery last Friday afternoon, in the presence of a large gathering of friends. Mrs. Huff came to Cheyenne in 1894, just two years after the opening of this country and her husband passed away the same year thus leaving her the responsibilty of rearing her family. Mrs. Huff and family were among the most active citizens of the early day and played an important role in the development of this county. Mrs. Kate Huff, nee Tucker, was born Dec. 26, 1848 at Refreio, Texas and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bird Pierce in Oklahoma City, October 16, 1935, at the age of 86 years, 9 months and 20 days. She was married to R.F. Huff in Refreio, Texas in 1871. To this union were born 10 chiildren 6 of whom survive. The surviving are Willie Huff, Glencoe, Oklahoma; Mrs. Pat Burmingham, of Apache Creek, New Mexico; Mrs. Leah Pierce of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Nellie Hensley of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Pearl Bowman of Alburquerque, New Mexico and Pat Huff of Allison, Texas; she also leaves 24 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Laura Paskel of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Mrs. Alice Blann of Poast, Texas and 1 brother, Steve Tucker of Albuquerque, New Mexico. About 15 years ago Mrs. Huff decided to live with her children, instead of maintaining a home. The funeral sermon was delivered by Rev. Stephens, Methodist preacher of Post, Texas, a friend of the family, and husband of a niece of Mrs. Huff. Among those from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Bird Pierce and sos, Francis and J.B., jr., of Oklahoma City; Nellie Hensley and 2 daughters, Lottie Pearl and Helen and son, Jack J. of Oklahoma City; Mr. and Mrs. Pat Huff and family of Allison, Texas; Mrs. Pearl Bowman of Alberquerque, New Mexico;' Mrs. Annie Birmingham, Apache Creek, New Mexico; Mrs. Jay Dickens and Mrs. Harry Kechter of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Willie Huff, Glencoe, Okla.; Mr. and Mrs. Buford Lackey of Herring; Mrs. Alice Blann of Post, Texas; Rev. and Mrs. Stephens of Post, Texas; Johnnied McDaniels of Canadian, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Het and Mrs. McQuittie of Canadian, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Smith of Gem City, Texas; and Mrs. J.B. Austin and children of Herring.
