All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== The Chickasha Express-Star 4 January 2005 JAMES ALBERT HIGGS James Albert Higgs was born in Sasakwa, Oklahoma, to Rev. Charles Allen Higgs and Flora Mae Higgs on December 31, 1934. A graduate of Sasakwa High School, "Albert" as he was known in his youth, lived with his sisters and brothers on "Higgs Hill" just outside of Saskawa and joined the United States Air Force upon graduation. James Albert Higgs was the son of a Baptist preacher/teacher/store keeper. He was a Christian who made a public profession of his faith and was baptized into the membership of the Hudson Avenue Baptist Church, Oklahoma City. He married Eloise Higgs in 1957 and had one son, James Albert Higgs II. James Albert Higgs II is a graduate of the University of Science and Arts of Chickasha and currently serves as assistant principal at Covington ISD in Covington, Texas. In 1972 James, who was known as Jim in his later years, married Ida "Faye" Higgs and made their home in San Antonio. Faye and Jim were happily married for 32 years until the angels called Faye away in May of 2004 out of the very arms of her loving husband. James Higgs retired after 30 years of service with the Civil Service Commission. He was stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, Oklahoma, and then was transferred to Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio. Jim was an accomplished electrical engineer who worked upon the radar systems that make up North American Defense System Radar (NORAD). Jim was a fisherman who loved to spend his free time on the banks, in a boat, or on a dock with a pole in his hand. His family have many fond memories of fishing trips/adventures in his company. Jim spent his last days in the home of his stepson and daughter- in-law, Robin Ross and Misty Ross, of Muskogee, Oklahoma where he was happy, loved, and very well cared for. Graveside services for James Albert Higgs were held on December 31, 2004, (his 70th birthday) at the Citizens Cemetery in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. Full military honors were provided by the Base Honor Guard of Tinker Air Force Base. Jim was preceded in death by his first wife, Eloise Higgs, of Choctaw, Oklahoma, and his second wife Ida "Faye" Higgs, of Choctaw. James Albert Higgs" memory is carried on by his son and daughter-in-law, James Albert Higgs II and Sheri Higgs, of Hillsboro, Texas; stepson Robin and wife Betty Ross, of Oktaha, Oklahoma; Robert Ross and his wife Wanda, of Muskogee, Oklahoma; granddaughter Misty Dobbs, of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma, and April Ross, of Rogers, Arkansas; great granddaughters, Jennifer Sipes and Ans-Leigh Dobbs, of Ft.
