In 1999, Steve had an accident that left him a quadriplegic. Throughout his time on earth and in the face of adversity, Steve displayed an awesome attitude and great courage. He has touched many lives and is a great inspiration to us all. He was born January 16, 1957, in OKC to Dale & Sue Higgins. He was a graduate of U.S. Grant High School and Oklahoma State Tech. He was a former Claims Manager at Mercury General Corp. Steve was an avid sportsman and spent his spare time excelling in softball, golf, cycling and riding motorcycles - no challenge was too great. His greatest love of all was his son Derrick. He is survived by his son, Derrick Higgins; parents Dale & Sue Higgins; brother Dennis Higgins; sister Connie Pranter & her husband Tim; sister Cathie Netherton & her husband Jeff; niece Gennifer Pranter; and nephews Garrett & Gabe Pranter and Nicholas & Jacob Netherton. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and loving family members. Special thanks to the staff at Heartland Nursing Home of Bethany and many friends for the wonderful love and care extended to Steve and his family over the past 3 years. Services will be held on Wednesday, August 7, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Westmoore Community Covenant Church, 12609 S. Western. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
