HUTCHINSON, aged 21 years, 9 months and 5 days from hemorrhage of the lungs. He had been sorely afflicted with consumption for a long time, yet kept up well, and made the race in the Strip, securing a fine claim, where he had been for the past two weeks attending a contest suit. He arrived home June 2nd in good spirits, but had been feeling worse for several days, yet kept it from his mother, fearing to alarm her. It seems that the guiding hand of Providence had brought him safely to die in arms of his loved ones, and allow him to hold sweet communion with them e'er the Death Angel came to bear his soul away. The morning of the 3rd he came down stairs, passing through his mother's room unable to speak as his mouth was full of blood but sweetly smiled on her as passing. He went to the door and cleared his throat, so he could speak, sent for his father and went on out near the hen house, where the blood gushed forth in torrents. His father told him to lie down there. In a few moments his spirit had taken its flight to the God who gave It. He was born near Biggsville, Henderson Co., IL on August 16, 1872. The remains were Interred in the Oklahoma cemetery. The funeral services being conducted by Elder W. H. Morrow; the text from the fiftieth portion of Psalms, 14th and 15th. "Pay thy vow unto the Most High, and call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee." His pallbearers were J. Barrbee, H. D. Smallwood, F. Vanbebber and Warren Ozman. He came here in the first settlement of this country, and was well and favorably known, and loved by many, both young and old. A host of friends join with the bereaved ones in their grief and sorrow. Look to heaven dear ones for the comfort the world can never give. The darkest clouds oft have a silver lining, and the loss of your loved one will draw you nearer heaven, where all tears are forever washed away. He leaves father, mother, and 5 brothers behind. The youngest three days old. God comfort them in their grief. Elder W. H. Morrow -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Oklahoma County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/oklahoma/oklahoma.html
