Vernon MD Holbrook, Alvin Kenneth Alvin Kenneth Holbrook, 66, a native of Mt. Vernon, MD and a long time resident of Oklahoma City, died Monday, January 13, 2003 at Peninsula Regional Center in Salisbury, MD. He was a 1954 graduate of the former Somerset High School in Princess Anne, MD and retired from the US Air Force after 20 years service, which included a wartime tour in Vietnam and several tours in Germany. He was a member of greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the Men's Chorus and The Brotherhood. He was the son of the late Rendle H. and Marguerite Burke Holbrook and a brother of the late Martharita Holbrook Deliotte. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Thelma Wytch Holbrook; a nephew, Aron Simpson, whom they raised as their son; two brothers, Calvin L. Holbrook of Mt. Vernon and Dr Wendell P. Holbrook of Jersey City, NJ; his mother-in law, Mrs. Mary Wytch of Oklahoma City; six aunts, Elva Handy, Florence Holbrook and Hattie Holbrook, all of Mt. Vernon, MD, Rosemary Gillette of Pocomoke City, MD and Frances Burke and Virginia Burke both of Salisbury, MD; two uncles, Thomas Pitts of Allen, MD and Frank Gillette of Pocomoke City; and a host of relatives and friends. Al will be greatly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. Very special thanks to Dr. Kathy Dagg and the staff of SW Cancer Center; and Dr. Terry Copeland. Funeral Services were held Saturday, January 18, 2003 2 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Community Worship Center in Mt. Vernon, MD. Interment in St. Paul Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, MD.
