Holder, age 75, died November 16, 2003 at her home in Mustang after a short illness. She was born April 3, 1928 in Oklahoma City to Homer E. and Ethel Newcomb. Leta grew up in OKC and moved to Mustang in February 1986. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers Everett and Lannie Newcomb. Leta graduated from Capitol Hill High School and attended Oklahoma Baptist University, studying music. She met, and after a year long engagement, married Henry Holder. There were two children from this union; a son Henry Mike Holder and a daughter Mary Beth Holder. Leta loved the Lord; she was the pianist for Agnew Avenue Baptist Church for several years and later when she moved to a new neighborhood, joined and became organist for Knob Hill Baptist Church. When moving to Mustang she joined First Baptist Church, where she played the organ. When not playing an instrument for God, she would be singing in the choir. For 25 years she sang with the Oklahoma City Chapter of 'Sweet Adelines”, a chorus of ladies singing barber shop harmony. The highlight of that experience was getting to sing in Royal Albert Hall in London, England on November 3, 1977. Leta retired from the Oklahoma City School System where she worked in the main library as a media aide, later transferring to Coolidge Elementary where she worked eight years before retirement. She designed and helped build the present home here in Mustang. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband Henry of Mustang, one son Henry Mike Holder and wife Kathryn of Mustang, one daughter Mary Beth Whomble and husband David of Midwest City, four granddaughters, one grandson, four great granddaughters, one great grandson and one brother Gene Newcomb of Cogar, Oklahoma.
