On Wednesday Sept. 11, 2002, Harold slipped peacefully from this earth and the ravages of ALS, into the loving arms of his heavenly father. He was born in Geary, OK and lived there most of his childhood, graduating from Geary High School in 1950. He served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. In 1957 Harold joined the Oklahoma City Fire Department where he attained the rank of Captain and retired after 20 years of service. He then went on to work for O.G.&E. and Enogex where he retired after 15 yrs. In 1955, he married Cloma Hudson and their marriage was blessed by three children. In 1986, he married Thelma Barnes. Thelma was his loving and faithful companion and caregiver until he passed away at their home in Eakley, OK. Harold loved music and was very talented at playing several musical instruments. He also loved fishing and camping. He is survived by his wife Thelma of Eakley, son David Hanes and wife Alecia, daughter Robin Khoury and husband Esaad, and son Jeff Hanes and wife Donna. Also, his grandchildren, Levi, Aaron, and Spencer Hanes, Chad and Eli Khoury, and Ryann and Bayley Hanes, and great granddaugher, Hannah Hanes, and by his children's mother Cloma (Janie) Morris, all of Okla. City. Also, his brother LaVern Hanes and wife Katherine, Geary. His funeral was held September 14 , 2002 in Eakley. Grandsons Chad and Spencer played the piano at their grandpa's funeral. All grandson's were pallbearers. He was buried in the quaint little High Pointe Cemetery North of Colony, OK.
