Lorena A., passed away peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of 3/1/03. Born in Malta Bend, MO 4/23/11 to William H. and Ida A. (Stieglemeier) Downs, she grew up in Wichita, KS and married Reinhard A. Hensch on 1/ 19/29. They moved to OKC in 1935. A longtime member of Linwood United Methodist Church in later years she joined Calvin Presbyterian Church where she waa active in the Elisabeth Circle and made quilts, receiving blankets, and caps for newborns and infants. Primarily a homemaker and mother, her hands were always busy with crafts and projects, serving as a Den Mother, Sunday School teacher, and active church member. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 50 years, her eldest child and son R.A. Hensch, 3 sisters and a brother. She is survived by daughters, Kathryn J. Minton, OKC, Diana L. Culley, Yukon; son, Donald A. Hensch, Edmond, daughter-in-law, Theresa Hensch Cannady, OKC; 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Beta Sigma Phi sorority. Never taller than 5'2' she was firmly in control of a husband and two sons all over 6' tall. She will be remembered by many as a loving symbol of strength, gentleness, warmth, and courage. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Infant Crisis Services, OKC. Services 2:00 pm Tuesday, 3/4/03 at Guardian (West) Funeral Home, interment at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. GUARDIAN WEST 41 & N.
