All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Hirsch, Stanley Henry Stanley Henry Hirsch, age 87, passed away peacefully following a long illness, on August 25, 2002. Stanley was born in Oklahoma City, on November 11, 1914, to parents Isabelle and Zene Hirsch. Stanley attended Classen High School and graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1936. Stanley was married to Betty Tuholske until her death in August of 1969. Stanley and Betty had two children, son, Thomas, who preceded them in death and daughter, Margaret A. (Peggy) Gray, who currently lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Peggy's daughter and Stanley's granddaughter, Meka Gray, currently resides in Wooster, Ohio. On August 4, 1973, Stanley married Mollie Burnett. Together Mollie and Stanley enjoyed 29 years of happiness with family and friends and their two Schnauzers, Sam (Stanley and Mollie) and Jay. Upon graduation from Washington University, Stanley went to work for Oklahoma Electrical Supply Company (OESCO), a prominent national commercial electrical contractor, co-founded by his father in 1909. Stanley worked at the company since childhood and upon his father's death in 1942, Stanley became its President, serving in that position until his retirement in 1982. During his tenure at the company, Stanley served as President and Governor of the National Electrical Contractors Association, Oklahoma Chapter, and Board Member of the Federated Electrical Contractors Association and received the highest honor in the electrical contracting industry when he was elected as a Fellow of the Academy of Electrical Contractors. Significant local projects that OESCO participated in during Stanley's leadership include: Baptist Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital, Presbyterian Hospital, Crossroads Mall, Penn Square Mall, new plants for General Motors, Xerox, and CMI, and numerous projects at Tinker Air Force Base. In addition to his association with OESCO, Stanley served as a principal with Hirsch-Swan Air Conditioning from 1937 to 1954. Stanley was a member of the Downtown Lion's Club and the Men's Dinner Club. Stanley was an avid golfer, enjoying the game across the country with friends and business associates. He was a longtime member of Quail Creek Golf and Country Club and recently a member of Gaillardia Golf and Country Club. Stanley was awarded a 33rd Degree in the Masonic Fraternity. Stanley was a strong supporter of the YMCA. He was a member for over 80 years, working out regularly at the Downtown Branch. He was a longtime devoted member of Temple B'nai Israel. In addition to Stanley's daughter and granddaughter, survivors include his wife, Mollie Burnett Hirsch; sister, Carolyn Young and husband, Fred of Oklahoma City; step- children, Sherry Bennett and husband, Ike of Oklahoma City, Barby Sidon and husband, Myron of Denver, Colorado, Howard Burnett and wife, Ellen of Columbus, Ohio; step-grandchildren, Clayton I. Bennett and wife, Louise, Robert K. Bennett and wife, Gina, Mark H. Bennett and wife, Laurie, Yvette Sidon Trachtenberg and husband, Randy, all of Oklahoma City, Michael Sidon and wife, Traci of Denver, Colorado, Joshua Sidon of Boulder, Colorado, Matthew R. Burnett and wife, Jill of Carmel, Indiana, and Julie Burnett of New York City; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include niece, Kay Davis and husband, Steve of Oklahoma City; nephew, Steven Young and wife, Barbara of Edmond. Stanley was a loving husband and father and a caring friend. He was a man of good humor and humility, and a man of integrity in business. Stanley was a true gentleman, and will be missed. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, August 27, at 4:00 p.m., at Hahn Cook Street & Draper Funeral Home, 6006 N.W. Grand Boulevard. Following the funeral, burial will take place at Fairlawn Cemetery, 2700 N. Shartel Avenue. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to be made to the charity of the donor's choice, or Temple B'nai Israel Endowment Fund, 4901 N. Pennsylvania, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
