All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Jones, Grace Leah Grace Leah Jones, 82, of Shawnee, OK, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2002 at Integris Baptist Medical Center. She was born Nov. 28, 1919 in Oklahoma City to F.H. and Naiema Barkett. She was reared in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School in 1937. Grace married Johnny H. Jones, Sr. on Feb. 9, 1941 at St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral in Oklahoma City. They settled in Shawnee where he ran the family business, Jones Theatres, Inc. Mrs. Jones was one time co-owner of the Unique Hat Shoppe and assisted her husband in the theatres. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee and was a member and former president of the Episcopal Women's Guild. She was a member of the Shawnee Garden Club, Chrysanthemum Unit, and was a sustaining member of the Junior Service League. She was also active in Shawnee Little Theatre's hospitality committee, Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, her parents, a brother, Dr. N.F. Vander Barkett, and a sister, Najla Aboussie. Surviving relatives include two sons, Dr. Johnny H. Jones, Jr. and wife Andrea of Oklahoma City, and Ronny Jones and wife Ann of Shawnee; three grandchildren, Johnny H. Jones III of Fayettevile, AR, Jeffery H. Jones of Oklahoma City, and Heather L. Jones of Dallas, TX; one step-grandson, David M. Hammer and wife Malania of Shawnee, one great-grandchild, Michael Hammer; a sister, Mrs. William Farha of Wichita, KS; a brother-in-law, Robert H. Jones and wife Betty of Shawnee; a sister in-law, Rosalind Banks and husband Doyle of Tulsa; a special cousin, Mrs. B.F. Farha of Wichita, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002 at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 501 N. Broadway, Shawnee, with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 548, Shawnee, OK 74802-0548. Arrangements are under the direction of Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel.
