All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Duncan Banner 2 Dec 2002 Carleen Mosier Jones Carleen Mosier Jones, 82, of Oklahoma City died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, in Oklahoma City. Service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church Chapel in Duncan with the Rev. Tommy Billings officiating and the Rev. Jody Hilliard assisting. Burial will be in Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home of Duncan. Visitation will be until service time Tueday at the funeral home. Carleen was born June 29, 1920, in Muskogee, to John Stanley and Margueritte Valleau Martin. She grew up in Muskogee, graduating from Central High School in 1938. She married Ralph L. Mosier Jr. on Sept. 3, 1939, in Muskogee, and he preceded her in death April 4, 1964, in Utah. One child, Cheryl Mosier Scheller, was born Sept. 7, 1957, in Olathe, Kan. This child is very special...she is a chosen child. Carleen moved to Duncan in May 1964. She married Lloyd Q. Jones, a Baptist minister, on July 27, 1967, in Duncan. While in Duncan, she was a member of First Baptist Church where she served as WMU director for several years. During her years at First Baptist she served as Adult Sunday School Division Director, a Sunday School department director and taught an adult Bible class. In 1989, she served as Centennial Chairperson when First Baptist Church observed its 100th anniversary. She worked closely with her husband as he was Director of Missions for the Mullins Baptist Association. In 1970, she was elected to a four-year term on the Executive Board of Directors for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma. One of those years Lloyd was vice-president for the state convention — the first time that husband and wife had served on the board together. She served six years on the Oklahoma Baptist Historical Commission. Carleen was a private piano teacher in Duncan for 30 years, retiring in May 1994. In 1996, Mr. and Mrs. Jones moved to the Baptist Retirement Center in Oklahoma City. They were active members in Highland Hills Baptist Church as well as being involved in activities in the retirement center. Survivors include her husband of the home; a daughter, Cheryl Mosier Scheller and her husband, Mark; and a grandson, Kevin Scheller, all of Oklahoma City. Bearers will be Byram Randolph, W. V. Gregston, Bill Chambless, Bill Lewis, Clyde Walton, Granville Ward and Dick Greenwood. Honorary bearer is Don Couch. Memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Children's Home, 3800 N.
