Jarvis, J. Lee

J. Lee Jarvis was born July 12, 1921 in Whitewright, TX. Jarvis spent a 
lifetime in the field of Aviation beginning at age 19 and continued 
through 2002. Filed his last flight plan 2/22/03 while at Integris 
Hospital. Served in W.W.II, in the Army Air Corps, Air Force Hump Pilot in 
the India-BurmaChina Theater, achieving the Air Medal (2nd Award), W.W.II 
Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon. After the War, he continued flying 
in the Corporate World and then retired from FAA in 1986. Member of: AOPA, 
NARFE, Hump Pilots Association, American Legion, Willow Creek Golf and 
Country Club. He enjoyed all his golf & "fly" buddies, flying, and all 
their adventures. He was active and interested in many areas including 
reading, golf, tennis and especially his friends. He was known as a caring 
and honorable fellow who loved humor. Survivors: his lovely wife of 60 
plus years, Lurlene, a daughter, Suzanne, and her husband, Forrest Givens, 
brother-in law, Douglas Mitchell, nephew, Tyler Lee Mitchell and niece, 
Dana Kim Mitchell Adams, and her husband, Dennis & family. In lieu of 
flowers, memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. A 
"Celebration of Life" Memorial will be held at Vondel L. Smith & Son 
Funeral Home, Thursday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m. Interment of ashes will 
be at Arlington National Cemetery. VONDEL L. SMITH & SON MORTUARY 6934 S.
