Iva was born February 7, 1912 in Watsonville, CA to Edward and Edith Zimmerman. Her parents, her sister and her loving husband of 59 years preceded her in death. She graduated in 1937 from Samuel Merritt School of Nursing, Oakland, CA and married Louis Jacobsen in 1938. They had three children and remained devoted to each other until Louis's death in 1997. Iva worked as a registered nurse in CA, UT, WA, & OR as Dad transferred about with the CAA (now FAA). Louis, Iva , and their three children settled in OKC in 1958. Mother was an RN at Deaconess and Baptist hospitals until 1968 when Iva & Louis moved to Washington DC where Dad retired in 1972. They moved back to OK, then lived briefly in Kerrville, TX, but returned in 1977. Mother enjoyed life and always had a smile for everyone, but family was her first priority. She was always active and excelled at tennis and swimming. She loved reading, ! Scrabble and crossword puzzles. Cherishing her memories are her three children: Roger Jacobsen (OKC) and sons Roger Jr (AL) and Zach (OKC); Carol Schieber (Bethany) and daughter Jennifer Turley (TX); and Shirley Mahoney and sons Tim, Andrew and grandson Braydon (OKC). Iva is also survived by several nieces & nephews in Calif. We would like to extend our family's sincere thanks to her friend Cynthia Stansifer, and to Sharon Nash & Karen Felker with Good Shephard Hospice, for their wonderful care in this last year of Mother's life. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00am, Sat, June 11, 2005 at St Mark's United Methodist Church in Bethany. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Return to Oklahoma County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/oklahoma/oklahoma.html
