All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Richard William Kiefer Richard William Kiefer, 67, of Amarillo died Saturday, April 17, 2004. Services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Kiefer was born March 17, 1937, in Oklahoma City. He was the adopted son of John and Dollie Kiefer of Wichita, Kan. He was schooled in required academics in Wichita and joined the Air Force at age 17. He was cum laude and on the honor roll at Odessa College. He collected many ribbons for valor, including the Bronze Star, Vietnam Service Ribbon and Expert Marksmanship. He was stationed in Alaska, Vietnam, Iwo Jima, the Philippines, Germany and California. He married Norma "Skip" J. Smith in Amarillo at the Air Force Base Chapel in 1959. They would have celebrated their 44th year anniversary in September. He retired from Webb Air Force Base in Big Spring. He was a loving husband and father who had a generous heart and helped friends and strangers. He had an awesome sense of humor that was only outmatched by his work ethic. He was a master mechanic who could fix anything. He will be greatly missed by his family. Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard Drew Kiefer and wife, Mary, of Midland; a daughter, Shannon Lynn Kiefer of Wichita; and four grandsons, Chad, Daniel, William and Anthony. His body has been donated to Life's Gifts so that others with catastrophic illnesses could be helped.
