All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Kloefkorn, Vernon Ray Vernon Ray Kloefkorn was born May 18th, 1927 in Manchester, OK and went home to his Lord on August 8, 2005. Vernon was a very dependable and steadfast man who had an intimate walk with God. He was a great husband, devoted father and grandfather, great neighbor and friend. He was loved and respected by all. He was a handsome romantic who had a great sense of humor. Vernon was a patient encourager, provider, mentor, servant, and leader; and shared his gifts with Covenant Presbyterian Church in OKC and First Presbyterian Church in Edmond, OK as an Elder and Sunday school teacher. Vernon was a gifted carpenter, skilled engineer, and creative artist. He loved to dance, sing and play instruments. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying golfing, automobiles, and his Bridge group which met monthly for 40 years. On August 23, 1945 Vernon enlisted in the Army where he attained the rank of Sergeant while serving in the South Pacific. During his service he was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from the service January 31st, 1947. On October 16, 1949 he married Gladys Louise Manhalter in Akron, Colorado. They moved to Denver, Colorado, where Vernon graduated from Midwest Trade School. He took his committed work ethic to his first job in Sidney, Nebraska with Curry Refrigeration and Air. Two years later he accepted a job with National Supply. They moved to Fort Morgan, Colorado where Vernon was a Store Manager, again to Casper, Wyoming as a Store Manager and then to Oklahoma City as a District Sales Manager. After retiring from National Supply in 1982 he founded VK Enterprises in 1983, which continues to be a thriving family operated oil and gas business. Vernon was also an active leader of the Society of Petroleum Engineers for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Gladys Louise Kloefkorn; three children: daughter LuAnn and husband George Moore, son Mark and wife Karen Kloefkorn and son Wade and wife Jules Kloefkorn; seven grandchildren: Matt Moore and expecting wife Katie, Brooke McMiller and husband Chris, Chad, Grant, Anne, Weston and Alex Kloefkorn; brothers: Wilbur and Ivan Kloefkorn and numerous extended family members. Preceded in death by his parents Albert and Luecle, brothers Delbert, Roger, Orval, and sisters Lavada and Pauline. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 10th at Baggerley Funeral Home from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at 930 S. Broadway Edmond, Oklahoma. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 11th at the First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, 1001 S.
