KRUGER, JR. Al Kruger was born November 28, 1925 in Oklahoma City, and was a graduate of St. Gregory's High School and Oklahoma A&M. Mr. Kruger entered the Navy with his father on November 28, 1942, and served as Aviation Metalsmith and Gunner's Mate. He was stationed on Atlantic Coastal Island bases including Banana River NAS Island. His company launched Patrol bombers against Nazi Wolf Pack submarines which were sinking U.S. Merchant Marine ships and other Atlantic shipping couriers. His crew flew missions from Newfoundland to Brazil among other combat areas. He was subsequently assigned to the Aircraft Carrier USS Bon Homme Richard, Port Leute, French Morocco, and the USS Colorado. He became a Gunnery Mate aboard the British Canon-Nosed Short Sunderland Patrol Bomber, which the RAF and RCAF delivered to a RAAF Australia patrol bombing base. Mr. Kruger retired from the Navy as Ensign. He married the love of his life, Lillie Kubala on August 8, 1949 and had a daughter Nancy, and sons Albert and James. He faithfully served his employees, customers, and investors upon joining Kruger Investment Company, founded in 1934, and retired as its President in May. Known as a man of courage, strength and vision, he was also regarded as modest, kind, exuberant and loving. He was a naturalist and fitness buff and his hobbies included volleyball, scuba diving and race car driving. He encouraged others to follow their dreams in excellence and integrity. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, sister Dorothy Venard; sister and brother-in-law Mary Beth and Robert Berney; daughter and son-in-law Nancy and Fay Morisseau, son and daughter-in-law Albert and Genevieve, son James, and six grandchildren. Al went home to be with the Lord on July 29, 2002. He had a life full of love. He has made our lives a wonderful dream. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 2, at Frisco Cemetery on Britton Rd., 2.5 miles West of Hwy 4, Yukon.
