All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Norman Transcript 08/08/03 Mary Lovell LeVan, 91, of Oklahoma City, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Mercy Hospital after a lengthy illness. No funeral is planned. A memorial service will be held at a later date in El Reno. Wilson Funeral Home in El Reno is handling arrangements. Mrs. LeVan was born Nov. 4, 1911, in Monticello, Iowa, to Maj. Lafayette W. and Lisle R. Lovell. She graduated from Monticello High School, Ward- Belmont in Nashville, Tenn., and the University of Nebraska. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority while at the University of Nebraska. She completed a year of postgraduate study at Simmons College in Boston. She married George E. LeVan Nov. 17, 1934, in Monticello. She moved to Oklahoma City from El Reno in 1999. She was a member of Chapter M of the PEO Sisterhood, The Athenaeum Club and served on the board of the Carnegie Library in El Reno for over 40 years. She was a homemaker and retired from the farm loan business. Mrs. LeVan was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Ruth Emily Lovell and Dr. Miriam Neff; and son, Edgar Lovell LeVan. Mrs. LeVan is survived by her daughters, Mary Jane Armacost of Hillsborough, Calif., and Sun Valley, Idaho, and Ruth L. Bison of McKinney, Texas; son, Dr. George L. LeVan of Norman; grandchildren, Susan Fisher of London, Betsy Crosswhite of Chicago, Dr. John Allgood of McKinney, Ace Allgood of Minneapolis, David LeVan of Oklahoma City and Emily LeVan of Wiscasset, Maine; and eight great-grandchildren.
