"Jo" Lewis Funeral for Josephine E. "Jo" Lewis, 86, Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Gary Cook, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Lewis died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at a local retirement center. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 20, 1915, in Oklahoma City to George L. and Pearl Louise Schwartz Eckel. She grew up in Oklahoma City, where she attended schools. She married Louie Leon Lewis on July 23,1937, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He died May 31, 1961. She was a cafeteria manager for Lawton Public Schools from 1955 until her retirement in 1977. She worked at Cleveland, Sullivan and Carriage Hills elementary schools. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Mend-it Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church since the 1940’s and a member of the Joy in Victory Sunday School Class. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, George and Joan Lewis, Lawton; a daughter and son-in-law, Jo and Junior Nation, Lawton; five grandchildren: Sherri Entler and her husband, Dan; and Wade Lewis, all of Lawton; Louie Lewis and his wife, Liz; Carrollton, Texas; Jennifer Kingsbury, Edgewood, N.M.; and April Grizzle and her husband, Jerry, Frisco, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren: Cameron, Tyler, Hunter, Spencer, Layton, and Madison Lewis, all of Carrollton, Texas; Brian Lewis, Lawton; Robert, Amanda, and Trinity Kingsbury, all of Edgewood, N.M.; four sisters and three brothers-in-law: Grace Philips, Long Beach, Calif.; Polly and T.J. Byrns, Lawton; Mary and Floyd Bolton, Corvallis, Ore.; and Quinnie and Ellis Cromwell, Owasso; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Loraine Fisher. Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church, Centennial fund, 501 S.W.
