All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== ::Resurrection Memorial Cemetery--OKC OK Liston, Wynema Peryl Jones "Jean" Wynema "Jean" Peryl Jones Liston of Oklahoma City returned home on February 26, 2003. She was the 4th of 7 children born to William Porter and Sarah Ethel Simonton Jones in Hebron, WV on August 11, 1914. She was a loving wife and wonderful mother; a very special person that will be remembered for her incredible strength, courage, and independence; unselfishness and generosity; her love of adventure and sense of humor. Jean loved reading, music, traveling, the hills of her West Virginia and the Colorado Rocky Mountains. She will be terribly missed by her family and those that knew her. She graduated from St. Marys High School in St. Marys, WV and from St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School in Parkersburg, WV as a registered nurse. She retired from Integris Baptist Hospital of OKC in 1976. During her 45-year nursing career, she served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps. During WWII, she was stationed in Pearl Harbor treating and caring for servicemen wounded in the Pacific Theater of Operation and received the AsiaticPacific Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. After the war, the US Navy took her to the University of Colorado in Boulder where she met her beloved husband Leland Lee Owen Liston. Jean shared 52 loving years in marriage to Lee. They had 3 daughters, Linda Loree Katalenich of Omaha, NE, Nancy Lee Hale of OKC and Sara Jean Covell of Tuttle, OK. Her husband, parents, sisters, Ruth and Irene, and brothers, Paul, Phil and Frank, preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughters Linda, Nancy, Sara and son-in-law Bob Covell; sister, Mary Reed of St. Marys, WV; grandchildren Tom and Debbie Katalenich, James & wife Devi, Paul and Brian Hale; great grandson Zachary Hale; sisters-in- law, Ileta Jones of Big Rapids, MI and Sophia Jones of Parkersburg, WV; brotherin-law Dean Liston & wife Mary of Bolivar, MO; and a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their appreciation to our mother's caregivers at Preferred Hospice and Windsor Hills Nursing Center. Private family graveside services will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
