All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Becker Funeral Home 14 Feb 2005 Lashley, MSG (Retired) Melvin Lee Age 88, Lawton, Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm Thursday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with Rev. Jim McGuire, Chaplain, Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma, officiating. Sergeant Lashley died Monday at his home. Burial with full military honors will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family will greet friends at the funeral home from 7pm to 8pm Wednesday evening. He was born on December 12, 1916 in Denison, Texas to the Rev. Tom and Maggie Martin Lashley. He grew up in Denison and attended Oakridge School. On November 27, 1937 he married Bonnie Sanford in Sherman, Texas. He was a Dairy Farmer before entering the Army in 1940. He was a decorated WW II Veteran who served with the 36th Infantry Division. He was awarded the EAME Campaign Medal with 4 bronze stars, the American Defense Service Medal, Sharp Shooter Badge, WW II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal with bronze clasp and 5 loops. He served in North Africa, Italy, France and Korea. Upon retiring from the Army in 1962, he worked for Civil Service at Fort Sill. He was a 32nd Degree Mason in good standing at Mount Scott Lodge 540, Past Associate Bethel Guardian of Bethel #7 Job's Daughters, a Shriner, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #507 and the Order of the Amaranth Lawton Court # 36. Survivors Include: his wife of the home. 4 Daughters and 3 Sons-In-Law: Delores and Robert Linker of Lawton, Judith Ingram Nazaryk of Lawton, Terrie and Dr. Kevin Riccitelli of Lawton, Mary and Dan Payton of Lawton. 8 Grandchildren: Debbie Fremin, David Thompson, Kris, Heather and Lindsay Riccitelli and Kelsey Payton all of Lawton. David and Joe Ingram of Pottstown, PA. 5 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. 4 Sisters: Lavanda Sikes, Evelyn Cravens, Betty Lovett and Tommie Jane Shires. 2 Brothers: Vernon Lashley and Jack Lashley, all of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sister-Geraldine Brooks, 3 Brothers: Alvie, Lloyd and Troy. Son: Thomas Melvin Lashley.
