Lancaster, 94, who died in Oklahoma City Tuesday, were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Dempsey school auditorium with the Rev. J.L. Davis officiating. Mrs. Lancaster was one of the pioneers of western Oklahoma. She and her family moved to Roger Mills county in 1900 and homesteaded near where Grimes, Oklahoma now stands. They started the first poast office and store at Grimes and the first Sunday School was held in their home. She was a long time member of the Methodist church. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Katherine Harz of Plano, Illinois, Mrs. Louise Wright, Litchfield, Nebraska, Mrs. Berdie Garrison of Elk City, Miss Salome Lancaster of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Leona Wilson Stevens, Chino, California, Mrs. Ethelyn Sparks, of Wilson, Oklahoma; three sons, Paul Lancaser of Low Point, Illinois, French Lancaster of Grimes, Oklahoma, Dewitt Lancaster of Bakersfield, California, granddaughter, Mr. Virgil Poore, of Sayre, Oklahoma. Burial was in the Dempsey cemetery, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Moore funeral home in charge of arrangements.
