James R., 71, died April 12, 2003, in Oklahoma City. He was born on December 19, 1931, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Henry and Noma Landt. Jim earned a B.S. degree in music and journalism from Oklahoma City University, a Master's degree from Central State University in guidance and counseling, elementary certification from Southeastern OK State University and administration certification from the University of Oklahoma. Jim retired as an elementary school principal in 1987 with 29 years of service in Oklahoma Public Schools. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Linwood United Methodist Church. Jim was preceded in death by both parents. Survivors include his wife, Hong Landt of the home; mother-in-law, Kiem Ha Cao, with her children and grandchildren of OKC; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Mike Wallace, and two grandchildren, Emily and Christian Wallace, of Ardmore. The family requests memorials made to Linwood United Methodist Church or Oklahoma City University Music Department. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 19, 2003, at the Smith & Kernke Chapel, 14624 N. May, with graveside service 11:00 am, at Rose Hill Burial Park.
