All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Amarillo Globe News 10 Aug 1997 Ruth McCollum Ruth McCollum, 76, of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 8, 1997. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church at Edmonson with the Rev. Carter Frey, minister of education and administration at First Baptist Church in Rosenburg, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens at Plainview by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. McCollum was born and raised in Quanah. She graduated from Quanah High School. After her marriage in 1940 to Troy McCollum in Oklahoma City, she lived in Oklahoma City. She moved to Mayfield in 1955 and to Edmonson in 1957. She was a member of the Edmonson First Baptist Church and served as church clerk for many years, and also worked with the pre-school children. She moved to Amarillo in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 21. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Carter Frey of Rosenberg; two sons, Mike McCollum of Tulia and Bruce McCollum of Lubbock; three brothers, Homer Jackson of Amarillo, Earl Jackson of Kinwood and Royce Jackson of Lubbock; two sisters, Ophelia Jackson and Joyce Burch, both of Quanah; and seven grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Edmonson First Baptist Church or Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center.
