All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ========================================================================== Obit for Billy McCarty Billy McCarty: 1923-2002 Billy McCarty DALHART - Billy "Bill" McCarty, 79, died Saturday, April 13, 2002. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Stephen Lowrie, pastor of the church, and Clifford Dane, minister to senior adults, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery of Dalhart by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mr. McCarty was born Feb. 3, 1923, in Carlton to William T. and Dolive (Clark) McCarty. They moved to Dalhart that same year. He was a 1941 graduate of Dalhart High School and attended West Texas State University before entering the Navy. After World War II he attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in accounting. On Feb. 14, 1945, he married Mary Thomson and in 1949 they moved to Dalhart. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of the First Baptist Church and a member of the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. Survivors include his wife; a son, Tommy McCarty and wife, Suzi, of Borden, Ind.; a daughter, Nancy Clayton and husband, Sammy, of Dalhart; a sister, Grace Stephens of Oklahoma City; a sister-in-law, Minnie McCarty of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Andy McCarty and wife, Sandra, of San Jacinto, Calif., Scott McCarty and wife, Gina, of Shelbyville, Ind., Amy Allen and husband, Dean, of Amarillo, Sherry Brading and husband, Robert, of Henryville, Ind., Thad (T.J.) McCarty of Borden, Shawn and James Laurie of Arlington, Matthew Clayton and wife, Sarah, of Houston and Mary Burkholder and husband, Jamie, of Knoxville, Tenn.; and 11 great-grandchildren, A.J. McCarty, Joey McCarty, Grant McCarty, Cate McCarty and Silas McCarty, all of San Jacinto, Macie McCarty of Shelbyville, Christopher Laurie and Kristen Laurie, both of Arlington, Lee Clayton and Brittany Clayton, both of Houston, and Holly Burkholder of Knoxville.
