Shibu is survived by his wife, Jamie Kuruvilla Mathai, parents: Dr. and Mrs. M Mathai of Portland, Oregon, sisters: Blessing and husband Siju Kompanal of Dallas and Tina Mathai of Portland, in-laws: Dr. Thomas and Elsy Kuruvilla, as well as a woven tapestry of relatives and friends. Shibu Mathai was born in India on October 8, 1978. He moved to the US in 2001 where he studied for his Masters in Telecommunications Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas and graduated in 2005. Shibu was a man after God's own heart. He dedicated his life for full time ministry. Although he was a young man, he had a tremendous impact on all of those who came into contact with him. This Godly love was seen in his selfless and heroic act of putting others before himself in saving the life of a child. Shibu Mathai will be greatly missed, but we know that one day we will meet Shibu again in a place where 'the roses bloom forever.' A Memorial service will be held Friday, August 19th at 6 PM at Heritage Baptist Church (Memorial and Council). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 20th at 10 AM at Heritage Baptist Church. The burial service will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery (Northwest Expressway and Council Road).
